From the Colosseum we moved onto this huuuuge archeological site, which the ticket include admission to.
That is not it. That’s the Arch of Constantine. Which is right outside.
See after the break!
But this is the site:
I looooove this sort of thing.
LOOK HOW MASSIVE!
This is only like five minutes in!
Check out those multiple stories! So cool! This site had all sorts of things, houses, shops, theatres, etc. It was really a community. I read that often the bottom layer, or the first room, was a shop with the housing behind or above it. Which… seems so very modern!
Ancient wall! Right in front of you~~
You could touch it.
With your fingers.
It goes on and on :D
Siiiign, around an active excavation site.
I really wanted to crawl down there and explore.
Around this point we were actually trying to exit, because E had An Agenda (Based on Roman Holiday XD) and we were flying out that evening so had to scoot. We followed signs for the exit, and these signs were literally pointing in all the wrong ways. It wasn’t just us either. And sometimes there’d be a map next to the signs, clearly showing conflicting information. So we actually ended up seeing most of this complex, but we weren’t trying to 8D Though I easily could have spent ALL DAY just here.
Ancient X-men 8D
Idk why, but ancient street sign filled me with a lot of glee (even looking through the photos I was like “omg, street sign!”)
Then we finally found the exit and zoomed off to the next location.
There were way too many pics taken here, so there's more in my flickr.
Nuns! I felt like Nuns in Rome was an obligatory shot.
One more part to this day!
